If you have an ash tree in your yard now is the perfect time to trim it up or take it down.

The emerald ash borer, a beetle that attacks and kills ash trees, is hibernating until spring.

The beetle is inactive between Labor Day and May 1st most years, but since this year has been unusually warm, it was active through September.

Mayer Lutheran High School students are spreading the excitement of prom throughout the community.

In addition to the traditional grand march and prom festivities, Mayer Lutheran students modeled their prom attire specially for the senior residents of the Lighthouse Assisted Living Center of Waconia. Students also handed out carnations to their audience.

Two Chaska women have been appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton to the commission charged with recruiting and recommending candidates for district judgeships.

Nancy Platto and Mary Stapleton are among the six newly-appointed members of the Commission on Judicial Selection.

Former Chaska Mayor Gary Van Eyll has been appointed to the Metropolitan Council by Governor Mark Dayton. Van Eyll is also a current member of the Carver County Planning Commission.  He has been an advocate for affordable housing, transit and transportation.
