Tomatoes Will Fly This Weekend in Hastings

Afton Alps in Hastings will look more like Spain during its famous Tomato Festival this weekend.  That's where the first annual Midwest Tomato Fest will take place.

The gates open for the event at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 31st.  The tomato fight is slated to take place from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m.

The event will also feature live music, food, and a beer garden.

Tigers are Roaming the Streets of Minnesota

Many Minnesotans would be surprised to see a tiger roaming the streets, but lately, that hasn't been too uncommon.

The Wildcat Sanctuary's tiger fleet is out and about spreading the word, in an eye-catching way, that wildcats do not make good pets. Vehicles with life-size graphics of tigers Titan and Lilly are driving around Minnesota and in parades.

It's OFFICIAL: The Twin Cities Dry Streak is Over (Barely)

What a streak of dry weather we've had as of late!  It finally ended Saturday, October 23rd when a measly one-hundredth of an inch of rain fell at MSP International Airport.  Prior to that, we had gone 27-straight days without measurable precipitation, though a "trace" was reported on three days: October 1st, 17th, & 18th.

Another Chance to See the Northern Lights Tonight

It's not often that Minnesotans and our neighbors in Western Wisconsin get a chance to view the Northern Lights in the middle of summer.  But an unusually strong solar storm has resulted in abnormally high geomagnetic levels.  What that means is a rare opportunity to see the auroras.

Teen Charged For Urinating In School Employee's Mug

A 17-year-old from Laketown Township is charged for allegedly urinating into a Chaska High School staff member's water mug.

The victim reported the incident to school administration on June 8th, a week after the event happened.
